Our History |
|
Since 1964, Sandco Industries provides a wide
range of employment opportunities and related
services to adults in Sandusky County. Sandco
Workforce Solutions is a division of Sandco
Industries that assists individuals with
community employment. Services provided by
Sandco Industries staff include a wide variety
of work readiness and employment services,
including work training, work experience,
classroom training on various employment
readiness topics, job development, job coaching,
follow along, re-placement and other supportive
community employment services. |

The Sandco
Industries Corporation is governed by a
nine-member Board of Trustees that has a
contractual relationship with the Sandusky
County Board of Mental Retardation and
Developmental Disabilities. Board members have a
broad base of business and service expertise and
come from such diverse backgrounds as the law,
social services, higher education and industry.
The Sandco Industries Board also includes family
members of the persons served by Sandco
Industries whenever possible. |
Sandco Industries
has demonstrated success in compliance with
certification requirements and is currently
certified to the fullest extent by the following
organizations:
- Commission
on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities (CARF)
- United
States Department of Labor
- Ohio
Department of Mental Retardation and
Developmental Disabilities

Each of these
certifications/accreditations requires extensive
compliance with detailed requirements. The
Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of
Safety and Hygiene has honored Sandco Industries
for outstanding effort in safety by operating
without a lost time accident for 1,000,000
hours. |

Sandco Industries
has long-standing relationships with many local
businesses and has done sub-contract work for
them for 40+ years. During 2007 Sandco
Industries assembled more than 23,000,000 parts.
Examples of the types of sub-contract work done
at Sandco Industries include sorting, collating,
packaging, assembling, stamping, inspecting,
salvaging, finishing and stuffing envelopes. |

Sandusky County Board of Mental Retardation and
Developmental Disabilities is to ensure the
availability of services and supports that
assist individuals in living the life they
choose; to promote their health and safety; and
to assist and support the families of these
individuals in achieving their goals. |
